Lisbon Architecture Triennale, the final days
It’s been a hectic couple of months with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. As some of you must have noticed, my collaboration with the Triennale’s blog made things a little slower around here.
Now, the Triennale is coming to an end, and that means that The Belly of an Architect will come back at full steam. There’s already some plans in the making. And many things that got delayed in the process, that will now come to light. So bear with me for a few more weeks as I get my bearings - and hopefuly take a short vacation.
Anyway, since we are on the final week of the Triennale I would like to highlight some of the things that you shouldn’t miss (if you’re in Portugal, that is).
The final session of the Triennale Forum will feature the presence of architect Nuno Portas in a debate about regional planning, next Friday. The Portuguese President Cavaco Silva will deliver the Triennale Award, also this Friday, in the Electricity Museum. Architects Siza Vieira and Manuel Salgado will be present to honor the awarded architect – whose name will only be revealed at the ceremony.
If you haven’t seen the Triennale’s exhibitions yet, make sure you visit the Portugal Pavilion and the Metropolitan Areas exhibit at Cordoaria Nacional, this weekend.
The monographic exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Siza Vieira has been extended and will be on display in the Electricity Museum until August 9th. Make sure you don’t miss Arnie Zimmerman’s “Inner City” if you go there.
The Triennale Flickr Pool now has up to 300 images, so you should also check it out. And that’s mostly it. Remember, the Triennale ends next Tuesday, July 31st.
